Tennessee College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (TCOEM) is committed to protecting the privacy of its members and other visitors to its web site. TCOEM maintains safeguards to store, and secure our information. The privacy statement below describes how TCOEM acquires data from its web site and how this information is utilized responsibly and appropriately. TCOEM reserves the right to make changes to its site, policies, and conditions of use at any time. By visiting TCOEM’s web site at www.tcoem.net, you accept these conditions, including any changes. Therefore, TCOEM encourages you to frequently re-read this privacy statement.  

Information collected on members, visitors, and new customers. 

MINIMUM AGE

You must be at least 18 years old to be permitted to use the TCOEM web site. TCOEM does not knowingly collect, use or disclose information about site visitors under 18 years of age.

PUBLIC AREA USAGE 

The server for the TCOEM web site maintains a log file covering all visits to the site, including the IP address of each visitor’s computer.  However, TCOEM does not collect any personal information from users visiting the public area of the web site anonymously. Only aggregate data, such as the number of URL hits/visits per page, are collected and maintained for internal use only.

MEMBERS AND OTHERS

When you create a contact record on the TCOEM web site or choose to interact with TCOEM’s web site in other ways, such as applying for membership, registering for an TCOEM conference/course, or subscribing to or purchasing an TCOEM product or service, TCOEM may collect additional personal information from you. Depending on the type of product or service, TCOEM may collect your name, company name, address, phone number, fax number, e-mail address, demographic information, and credit card information. By providing your contact information, you are voluntarily giving TCOEM permission to use your name, address, and e-mail for the purposes of future TCOEM communications.

If a member or other visitor logs into a password-protected area of the TCOEM web site, the user’s name and, if applicable, member ID number are recorded. In the course of purchasing an TCOEM product or service, the individual may be asked to provide personal information in order to finalize the purchase. In addition, members may be asked to update their member contact information.  

Disclosure to third parties

OTHER DISCLOSURES

On occasion, TCOEM may also provide limited data to third parties that offer products and services. TCOEM may also disclose your information on the basis of a good faith belief that disclosure is necessary to: 1) comply with legal requirements; 2) enforce the terms and conditions of use for the TCOEM web site; or 3) protect the personal safety of TCOEM personnel or members of the public.

TCOEM makes its list available for selected usages germane to the practice of medicine to make recipients aware of products and services of interest.  These usages are approved in advance by the College.  Members have the opportunity to remove their contact information from the file that we make available for these offers.

CREDIT CARD INFORMATION

TCOEM uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption, helping to protect every customer purchasing TCOEM products or services over the Internet. SSL technology encodes information as it is being sent over the Internet between your computer and TCOEM servers, helping to ensure that the transmitted information remains confidential. TCOEM does not disclose credit card account information provided by its members and customers.

HOW DOES TCOEM USE COOKIES?

Cookies are small pieces of information stored by your browser on your computer and used to aid in navigation of the web site. Cookies are not used on the public area of the TCOEM web site. Session cookies are used once a user logs into a non-public area of the TCOEM web site. Session cookies are temporarily stored in the user’s computer memory after login and are then terminated or removed after the user closes the browser. A browser must be set to accept cookies in order to access the Members Only area of the TCOEM web site.

LINKS TO OTHER SITES

TCOEM’s web site at times includes links to other, external web sites, and TCOEM is not responsible for the privacy policies and practices for those other sites. If you visit any of those sites, you should consult their posted description of privacy policies and practices, if any. TCOEM’s policy limits listings to related non-profit medical organizations such as the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses, and related government policy or rule-making agencies such as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The only exception to this policy would be if your organization was involved in an approved joint educational sponsorship program with TCOEM.
